Regular maintenance keeps commercial machines safe, quiet and smooth for decades. This checklist and troubleshooting table covers everything most owners will ever need.
Maintenance Checklist
| Frequency | Task |
|---|---|
| Daily | Wipe down frames, pads and handles after use. Note any new noises or rough movement. |
| Weekly | Spot-check bolts and fasteners; re-tighten any that have worked loose (normal during the first month). |
| Monthly | Inspect cables along their full length for fraying or flat spots. Clean guide rods. |
| Quarterly | Lubricate guide rods and pivot points with a light silicone or PTFE spray. Check pulleys and bearings for play. |
| 6 months | Check welds and frame joints for cracks. Verify safety stops and hooks still engage firmly. |
| Annually | Full inspection: cables (replace if aged), upholstery, and all moving parts. Cardio: check drive belt tension. |
Lubrication Guidance
- Use a silicone or PTFE (Teflon) spray/lubricant on guide rods — these do not attract dust.
- Do not use general-purpose oil or WD-40 on guide rods — they collect grit and cause wear.
- Sealed cartridge bearings require no lubrication — do not oil them.
- Wipe off excess lubricant after application so it does not reach pads or upholstery.
Cable Care
- Inspect monthly: look for frayed strands, kinks or flat spots along the whole length.
- Replace cables every 2-3 years under heavy commercial use, or immediately if fraying is visible.
- When replacing, photograph the original routing before removing the old cable.
Troubleshooting Table
| Symptom | Likely cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Squeaking or grinding when moving | Dry guide rods / pivots | Lubricate with silicone or PTFE spray (see above) |
| Bar or carriage feels sticky | Dirty guide rods | Clean rods, then lubricate |
| Cable fraying or flat spots | Normal wear, or pulley misalignment | Check pulley alignment; replace cable |
| Weight stack drifts down | Selector pin / spring worn | Check pin engages fully; replace spring |
| Rattling under load | Loose bolts or worn bushings | Tighten all fasteners; replace worn parts |
| Treadmill belt slips or drags | Belt tension or worn deck | Adjust tension per manual; replace deck/belt when worn |
| Console will not power on | Power connection / fuse | Check plug, outlet and fuse; contact us if persistent |
| Unusual noise from cardio drive | Drive belt or bearings | Inspect belt; contact us for replacement parts |
